Shaped for a Purpose

One of the previous churches I served had a program for persons of any age that offered a class in ceramics.  In this class, persons were taught the basic skills of making items of beauty out of blobs of clay.  I went into the class one day and watched the instructor (the late Philip Stewart) "do his thing" at a potter's wheel.  I was amazed at the beautiful object that evolved from a blob of clay.  Yes, as a child I had played with PlayDoh and made countless objects.....some I thought to be a "masterpiece" and others not so much.  But what I remembered most was the ability to start over and try again or make something new when I felt like I had "messed up".

As I left that classroom, I noticed above the door was a sign that read "We are but clay in the Potter's hands!  Jeremiah 18".  This Sunday, each of us will have a chance to mold our own individual PlayDoh as we think and reflect about how God has "SHAPED US FOR A PURPOSE".  You may also want to read Jeremiah 18:1-11 for a reference.  Join us at 9 or 10:30 a.m..  ALL are welcome.
