Forward in Faith Update - September 1st, 2011

After thorough discussion, the Administrative Council of Woodridge UMC is extending an invitation to all members and friends of the church to add a fourth year to their giving plans. Can you commit to extending your contributions to the Forward in Faith renovation effort one more year at the same level as your three year commitment?  If so, you will greatly aid your church in completing the much needed repairs, replacements, and remodeling that are in our original vision  for Forward in Faith.

This plan offers a genuine option for completing the needed work to make our church building the safe and functional ministry resource necessary for the future.  But it is an invitation for you to prayerfully consider, not a requirement.  There is no pressure, no "arm twisting."  Please respond as God gives you guidance.

Please contact Ken Black or Karen Miller if you have any questions.

Thank You!

 Dear WUMC Family,

14 weeks ago we embarked on this journey together. I have been deeply moved by the Love and Heart of this Congregation.

I would like to thank my FIF team: Todd Flessner, Diane Meeker, Amy Lietz, Ken Black, Monica Copeland, Faye Hoffman, Nancy Elble, Troy Smith, Glenn Nelson, Walt Read, Gwenn Edman, Carole Strong, Tracey Collins, Pastor Jim & Pastor Dave. YOU GUYS ROCK!

More then 55 people helped in some way. 96 people prayed for 24 hours straight, from here and around the world, including our Bishop. Now THAT IS POWER!

I am happy to report that 83 families stepped up to the challenge and have pledged an amazing $616,440. This is 83% of our goal!

Some of you may feel a twinge of disappointment that we did not reach the goal of $741,000. I however see the entire campaign as a HUGE success. Why? 83 families are all making a sacrifice over and above their normal support of WUMC.

That means that we achieved this wonderful outcome God's way. We were not focused on the "bottom line" as though we were a business. We were focused on prayer and discerning God's will for ourselves and for WUMC. The Power of the Holy Spirit was Deeply felt by me and my FIF team. Thank you all for your continued love of the Lord and WUMC.

It is not too late to join the effort.

You may make a pledge at any time OR simply Give to the Building Fund as you are able without making a pledge.

It has been my Honor to serve WUMC as the General Chair of this Campaign.

I could not have done it without the LOVE and SUPPORT of all of WUMC.

Thank you,

Karen Miller

Ken Black, Jeff Lietz, our District Superintendent, Rev. Diana Facemyer, and Pastor Jim Galbreath On Sunday, February 27th, WUMC held a special All Church Charge Conference regarding our renovation project.  We are thrilled to announce that our All Church Charge Conference passed the Renovation - Forward in Faith building project! The motion passed with 94.7% in favor!

This truly is an exciting day in the life of our congregation. But it is also true that, in many ways, our work is just beginning. Pastor Jim reminds us, "We didn't vote to give permission to renovate. We voted to commit to renovation. And that means all of us!"

Bill Walter, our Capital Campaign Consultant, advises that 30-40% of our congregation needs to be on various Campaign Teams during the 14-week fundraising campaign in order for it to be a success. So you can expect a call seeking your involvement soon!

God has blessed us greatly and calls us to be a blessing to others as we, together, move Forward in Faith!
