Telling Better Love Stories

“Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude…And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.”

While that text from the epistle we call Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians is not read at every wedding in the U. S., if you’ve attended even just a couple of weddings chances are pretty good you’ve heard it.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. 1 Corinthians 13 is right, and a good and joyful thing to be read at weddings to celebrate the love a couple shares — and to remind all present what love is suppose to look and feel and sound like.

  • But what if it is more complicated than that?
  • What if there are also other ways of telling about the power of love?
  • What might happen if we told different stories about how love works in and through and with and (when necessary) in spite of us?
  • Might better stories lead us into better living?

Pastor Dave will wrestle those questions and more this Sunday, May 17th, in his sermon, “Telling Better Love Stories.”
