Wild, Wild Wind

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, when, according to the story from Acts of the Apostles, God’s Holy Spirit ignites a brand new day: some speak like never before, others hear in ways they never thought possible. Questions and wonderment abound!

Perhaps strangest of all, the Holy Spirit shows up in a loud wind and a spreading fire…what might it mean that God’s Holy Spirit manifests herself in forces of nature that are simultaneously vital to our survival and that seem to have an animated mind of their own?!?

Other questions remain as well:

  • How is the Holy Spirit still speaking today?
  • What might move us, like those first followers of Jesus, to spill into the streets proclaiming good news?
  • What signs of the Spirit are emerging in your life and in our community?
  • How might the iconic Cross and Flame symbol of The United Methodist Church help illuminate this familiar story?

Pastor Dave will consider all this and more in his sermon, “Wild, Wild Wind.”
