By the Water and the Spirit part 4: What Are You Waiting For?

08.25.23 | by Rev Danita Anderson

This will be our last Sunday taking a look at the sacrament of baptism, under the theme "BY WATER AND THE SPIRIT".  The first week we were reminded that through baptism, we are "MARKED FOR LIFE".  No matter when our baptism took place -- as a baby or older -- we are a part of God's family with the tattoo of "beloved" written on our lives.

Then the 2nd week, we took a look at baptism as a way of life.  We are "CALLED TO CARE" as a way to live out the commitments of being baptized.  We want to make sure we are following the right direction in living up to our baptismal vows.

Last week we took a look at  "THE EQUITY OF THE WATER".  Life seems to be so unfair and we get daily reminders that we live in a world of "haves" and "have nots". But there is something about our lives as baptized believers that reminds us of our authentic status in God's eyesight.

This Sunday we will wrap up our summer series on the sacraments of the church, communion and baptism.  We will share in a time of reaffirming our baptism and be reminded of the work of baptism.  Water is such a significant part of our daily lives and every moment should be filled with remembrances of our baptism.  But sometimes we hesitate to live out that calling in our lives.  We don't want to disturb or disrupt our comfortable environment as it is.  Each of us, as gifted human beings, has been called to live out our baptism in ways that are equitable and loving.  So, "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?".  The answer to that query covers the waterfront... or there are a myriad of reasons... or there are a lot of reasons why not.  All of them are confronted by the presence of Christ in our lives.

So join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. as we examine "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?".  If you aren't able to be with us in person, join us by way of our YouTube channel.   See you then!
