A News song for a New Day

As we approach this third Sunday of Advent, we light the pink candle on our Advent wreath symbolizing "joy" in addition to the other 2 candles we have lit symbolizing hope and peace.  It's hard to imagine any of those being a reality in our day and time!  Yet the season of Advent reminds us that all things are possible.

We can see that very clearly in the scripture passages that have been used in our worship experiences last week and this week.  Women of advanced age are giving birth and a young woman who has never been with a man is giving birth to the Savior of the world.  How preposterous is that?  For us, it is ludicrous!  For God, "it's all in a day's work"!!!  But how do we make that jump from something so unbelievable to the common everyday?

Maybe if we change our "tune" we might recognize a little of God's possibilities in and around us.  Mary's circumstances were quite suspect.  Yet, her song (known around the world as the "Magnificat") gives glory and praise to God even in the midst of questionable circumstances.  It's possible we need a NEW SONG FOR A NEW DAY.  The tune that we have been singing may be blocking the possibilities that are present in our lives.  Let's try to take a look and see what are the different "songs" we have been singing and how we might look at some "new" songs for our lives.  Join us in person or on YouTube on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
