Delightfully Stranger Things

Our deep dive into the Acts of the Apostles continues this week. If you thought the events in previous chapters were weird, wait until you take a look at chapter 12. Let’s see…

Peter in trouble?

Peter acting goofy?

A mysterious intervention?

An unhinged political leader?

More boundaries busted?

Check, check, check, check, and check.

It certainly is a wild ride following along as these earliest of Christians try their best to go where the Holy Spirit leads them. But, believe it or not, the above list is not exhaustive.

In what other antics did our spiritual forebears engage?

How do they manage to simultaneously seem so distant and so relevant?

Does this story connect to the larger narrative the author of Acts and the Gospel of Luke shares?

How might this story shed light on our contemporary attempts at discipleship?

To experience our responses to those questions, you’ll have to be in worship this Sunday, May 27th for Pastor Dave’s sermon, “Delightfully Stranger Things.”

Series Information

In this sermon series, the story of the early church unfolds before us. Many of the challenges they faced are the same (or very similar) to the ones we face in 2018. Questions around leadership, why we should believe in the first place, who to believe and the age-old question of who is “in” and who should be kept “out”.
