Just an Ordinary Day

This coming Thursday we will once again celebrate Thanksgiving.  Tables will be set with loads of food.  Families and friends will gather.  And all will be well.  That is, for some people.  For others, it is just another day to remember what used to be, people who used to be present and meals that used to fill any stomach.  Just another day.

As those who follow Jesus, it is the time of year where we give generously to food pantries, shelters and the like.  We work to make sure that many more eat and are comfortable than at other times of the year.  Special efforts to reach out and care are made and fulfilled.

There is a gospel song entitled "Every Day Is A Day of Thanksgiving" and it is a reminder that every day of our lives should be a day of giving thanks to God for all of the blessings we have received.  What would our lives look like if we got together with family at other times during the year?  Or supply the local food pantry with an overflow throughout the year?  What would it mean to reach out to others during other times of the year.  What if thanksgiving became "Just An Ordinary Day" at any time of the year?  How would our lives change?  How would our perspectives change?  What would we need to do to make it so?

Join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in person or on YouTube and we will talk about it.
